Cube and Dimension Permissions and Access Rights Using Roles

Hi All

Does any one have an idea how we implement roles in SSAS. I have five dimensions and in one dimension I have different department. What I would like to know I want to hide some of the department based on User login. I did try it, It works when I connect to the Role explicitly, but the default behavior is not that, Which means as soon as I connect to my cube using Excel 2007 it is displaying all the department to my login. But when I connect using that role in Analyses service it is displaying only my department. Am I missing some thing?

PS: Cutley: Have you got any plan to put a video about implementing security using roles (How can we implant roles based security on Cube dimension and Cube cells). Your Videos are really great and very helping

First, yes, I will have a role-based security video at some point, I just don't know when.

Third, it sounds like you already have the basics down. Check all your roles and the membership for each one. Is there any overlap? And are you logging in as yourself? If so, you are an administrator on the server (I'm guessing) and all security is ignored for people with administrative permissions. You might have to create a dummy user and test under those credentials.
