A Learn Microsoft BI user emailed me and said it would be great to get email notifications when a new video is posted. I always make a blog post about a new video and some people have subscribed to the RSS feed, but an email system isn't bad either. Therefore, I want to explain how to sign up for either the RSS feed or the new email notifications.

RSS Feed

Signing up for the RSS feed should be simple. There's a link on the left-hand side of every page that says "Subscribe RSS." Clicking on this opens either a new window or tab. The URL at this point is http://www.learnmicrosoftbi.com/Home/tabid/37/rssid/1/Default.aspx and that's what you paste in your aggregator. I know it looks odd, as most RSS feeds end in .xml, but I've used this in a variety of web-based and Windows aggregators with no problems.

Email Notifications

If you'd prefer email notification, the first step is to click on your username in the upper right-hand corner. In this example, the user is named Crunge, so he'd click on the word Crunge.

Clicking on the username takes you to a page where you can manage your profile. Once there, click on the text that says Manage Services.

After clicking Manage Services, you'll see a group named Newsletter with a Subscribe link next to it. Click once on the word Subscribe. It will change to Unsubscribe and you are now subscribed to the Newsletter group. I'll use this group to send out short emails each time I add a new video.
